The Inspiration

Pinotage is Africa's only indigenous red wine cultivar, born of the parent grapes Pinot Noir and Hermitage (Cinsaut). Stylistically Longridge focuses on the fruit and characteristics of the Pinot Noir side of the family - the result is a lighter, more aromatic reading of the cultivar than the broad-shouldered Pinotage that defines the South African mainstream. Gentle extraction, certified organic and biodynamic farming, and a minimal-intervention philosophy produce a Pinotage of remarkable elegance, freshness and precision. Silky, refined and beautifully balanced, it reveals the true potential of the variety - an authentic expression of place that has converted countless skeptics into passionate Pinotage believers.

Longridge is a regenerative wine estate in Stellenbosch, rooted in organic and biodynamic farming and dedicated to producing wines of purity, precision and place. Situated on the cool slopes of the Helderberg - just three miles from False Bay - the estate (Anno 1841) farms with a long-term commitment to soil health, vineyard balance and ecological stewardship. Nguni cattle graze the vineyards, ducks patrol the rows, and a steady maritime influence defines the coolest pocket of the Stellenbosch appellation. In the cellar, the approach is guided by restraint - allowing the vineyards and vintage to define the character of each wine.
