The Inspiration

Driefontein Blanc is praised as a single-block Sauvignon Blanc from one of the coolest parcels in the Stellenbosch area - the Driefontein farm against the slopes of the Helderberg, where he currently lives. The cooling breezes off False Bay temper the block on the hottest days; that's the wine's whole structure. A minimum-interference approach in the vineyard reads the terroir without flattening it. The vines sit in cool pockets of Stellenbosch and are tended for quality, not yield. In the cellar the fruit is naturally fermented - no enzymes, no preservatives, no stabilizers - and the wine spends ten months in French oak barrels before bottling. This wine is precision driven and alluring like Sancerre with its character but elevated uniquely with South African vibrancy.
