A little on the winemaker..

Jaco Brand has been the winemaker at Piekenierskloof Wine Company since it was established as a partnership between Charles Back and Mike Paul in 2007.

Jaco is an accomplished winemaker and friend of the community, he has a deep understanding of the local climate and expert knowledge of cellaring and blending

 

Stonedance Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine notes

This Cabernet is from Fairtrade certified vineyards in the Swartland region of South Africa. Grapes were handpicked and cold soaked for 24 hours. Fermentation is initiated with select yeast strains and kept under 26 degrees celsius. Malolactic fermentation is completed in tank with 50% of the wine then being aged for 12 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels. 

Tasting notes

A medium bodied wine with aroma of ripe blackcurrant, plums and hints of dark cholocolate. Well balanced with a gentle oak texture.

Enjoy with beef ribs or garlic chicken wings

Stonedance Shiraz

Wine notes

This Shiraz is from Fairtrade certified vineyards in the Swartland region of South Africa. Grapes were handpicked and cold soaked for 24 hours. Fermentation is initiated with select yeast strains and kept under 26 degrees celsius. Malolactic fermentation is completed in tank with 80% of the wine then being aged for 12 months in a mix of French and American oak barrels. 

Tasting notes

Medium to full bodied with lots of juicy ripe plums and black cherries on the palate with aromas of spice and freshly cracked black pepper. Well balanced with soft oak and elegant tannin structure on the aftertaste 

Food Pairing and Technical notes

Great with lamb shawarma or spicy sausages

Stonedance Sauvignon Blanc

Wine notes

This Sauvignon Blanc is from Fairtrade certified vineyards in the Swartland region of South Africa. Grapes were harvested very early in the morning allowing the fruit to retains its flavor. Only the free run juice was used, allowed to settle and inoculated with a selected yeast strain. The wine was fermeted  under controlled conditions at 12 degrees celsius. 

Tasting notes

A complex wine with a crisp acid and tropical fruit flavors. An elegant balance of fruit and minerality.

Great with grilled fish or Gazpacho
